the 2nd Annual A.C.O.R.N. Symposium
Please complete this Proposal Submission Form to be considered for a presentation slot.
Presentations are open to researchers, experiencers, clinicians, and students.
Our Symposium attempts to fulfill the following objectives:
1. Interdisciplinary Emphasis (Collaborative Focus)
ACORN is dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary research on anomalous and paranormal experiences by fostering collaboration across the sciences, humanities, and the arts. We aim to create a rigorous and inclusive platform for exploring extraordinary human experiences through diverse methodological and theoretical lenses.
2. Community and Network Building
ACORN exists to cultivate a dynamic network of scholars, practitioners, and experiencers engaged in the exploration of anomalous phenomena. We are committed to fostering dialogue, mentorship, and collaboration across disciplinary boundaries to enrich the field and empower new voices. We hope to gather as colleagues and leave as friends.
3. Transformative Experience and Human Potential
We believe that studying anomalous experiences is vital to understanding the full spectrum of human consciousness. ACORN seeks to illuminate the transformative, cultural, and psychological dimensions of exceptional experiences, and to examine their implications for science, society, and human potential. Anomalous experiences are both common and rare. They are common since a vast majority of humans will have at least one experience and they are rare in that most people don’t have daily anomalous experiences. One of our goals is to de-stigmatize having an anomalous experience
4. A small tight knit symposium
The goal of the symposium is to have a gathering where we come together in a unique, rustic or meditative setting. There, we will eat together, socialize and share our recent research progress. We want everyone who comes to present their work and we are attempting to create an atmosphere where researchers who often feel “on guard,” can be among kindred spirits. Because of this, the symposium is not open to the public. Anyone traveling with you should check their skepticism at the door.
